Außenansicht Projekt Neue Liebe

"Neue Liebe" neighbourhood – Because living is a matter of the heart

Home is not a place, but a feeling.

A visionary project is unfolding in the urban and historic setting of Potsdam, in the immediate vicinity of the Belvedere on the Pfingstberg. It was planned by the renowned architectural firms Bernd Albers and Petra and Paul Kahlfeldt and by interior designer Sibel Huhn. The KuBuS Freiraumplanung office was responsible for the landscape design. Eight exquisite urban villas were created, whose architecture is characterised by the classic elegance of proven forms, but at the same time appears timeless and modern. A garden, inspired by the magnificent parks of neighbouring castles, complements this ensemble.

Neue Liebe" pays homage to the tradition of Potsdam's villa districts, where detached villas characterise the cityscape. The city villas share many similarities in terms of design, but are differentiated from each other and function as an architectural pair. The architecture of these residences bows to the character of Potsdam, explores its essence and takes it into the future. The result is a new dimension of urban quality of life.

About the project

Potsdam is getting a "Neue Liebe".

The "Neue Liebe" site is surrounded by artfully trimmed hedges along the streets. Traditional stelae mark the entrances to the buildings and the spacious, tranquil park that forms the centre between the eight urban villas. The symmetry of the ensemble is emphasised on the outside by privet hedges and on the inside by hackberry trees.

In "Neue Liebe", the top floors are built as stepped storeys so that the penthouses have no sloping ceilings but plenty of space for spacious, sunny roof terraces. The clear room height of up to 3.30 metres and large French windows that let the sun into the rooms and into your heart also ensure a feeling of happiness!

The floor plans of the penthouses create flowing transitions between cooking, dining and living and offer enough space for family life or cosy evenings with friends. While the bedrooms, often combined with master bathrooms, create the perfect opportunity for a private retreat. The highlights are, of course, the roof terraces.

Each garden flat has spacious private gardens in which lilacs, pipe bushes and snowballs bloom in glorious colours. Privet hedges protect the intimacy of these areas and separate them from the communal greenery. The central part of the garden impresses with lovingly designed elements such as shady trees (flowering ash, speierling, amber tree), curved paths that cross at random and thus encourage neighbourly encounters. Wide areas with loosely scattered tree trunks, boulders, sand pits, benches and playgrounds invite people to linger. Mounds of grass and organic pathways are reminiscent of the idyllic motif of the English landscape garden. This park-like garden forms the vibrant heart of the ensemble, where living becomes a harmonious dialogue with nature.

Is it the well thought-out floor plans, the tasteful furnishings or the classic double, sometimes triple-sash window formats that make the ambience of the "Neue Liebe" flats so pleasant? It's simply everything. The architecture, both inside and out, radiates a naturalness that is entirely in keeping with a modern feel-good atmosphere. An interplay of a generous sense of space, familiar details and beautiful materials that creates a cosy flair throughout the home.
