In the middle of this urban and diverse neighbourhood, an exclusive retreat has been created in the form of the new "AM TACHELES" urban quarter, where the participating architecture firms Herzog & de Meuron, Grüntuch Ernst Architekten and Brandlhuber+ Muck Petzet have given the ensemble of six exclusive city residences, top-class office buildings and the sophisticated shopping arcade a modern and elegant look, with each residential building having its own unique identity. JOUX, designed by architects Arno Brandlhuber and Muck Petzet, celebrates a new way of living: Extravagance and exclusivity in harmony with intimacy and elegance. The house is unique in its shape and colour scheme. Inside and out, impressive design meets high-quality materials. The façade of the JOUX is characterised by the striking balconies in shiny aluminium, elegant marble and tinted glass. The rose-coloured marble also sets eye-catching accents in the stairwell, which is lit from both sides. In contrast to the playful façade, the light-flooded flats have a clear and minimalist design with exposed concrete. The building is embedded in the overall ensemble like a jewel and is well protected in the centre of the urban quarter with a view of the leafy and private courtyard garden.

Location and surroundings of this property

The unique city quarter "AM TACHELES" impresses guests and residents with a very special atmosphere in the heart of the capital. More than a century ago, the completely new Friedrichstadtpassage opened on this site in 1908, revolutionising the shopping experience for Berliners with its striking domed hall and a colourful range of shops, cultural institutions and restaurants. After the fall of the Berlin Wall, artists from East and West moved into the remaining parts of the former department stores'. They founded the Kunsthaus Tacheles and prevented the demolition of the building. Legendary art actions, performances and happenings explored boundaries and caused quite a stir in the international creative scene. The Tacheles thus became synonymous with the powerful transformational processes of reunified Berlin. In the last decade, the plan emerged to build a new neighbourhood on this site that, on the one hand, recalls its origins at the beginning of the 20th century and, on the other, blends naturally into the existing neighbourhood. The best architects were tasked with realising this vision. The architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron was commissioned to develop a new urban masterplan. Between the triangle of Oranienburger Strasse, Friedrichstrasse and Johannisstrasse, an open-plan, central neighbourhood with a lively cultural offering, flats, offices and shopping facilities has now been created. The listed Kunsthaus, which gives the neighbourhood its name, has been carefully renovated and is now a museum for contemporary photography. The development of the AM TACHELES site in the heart of the capital has enriched one of the most popular residential areas in Berlin-Mitte with an unmistakable ensemble. Those who settle here can enjoy the advantages of the big city to the full: exquisite restaurants, trendy bars and cafés, as well as numerous shopping facilities for everyday needs are right on the doorstep. Art and culture fans can take a short stroll to Museum Island, the Volksbühne theatre or one of the nearby galleries. Shopping and strolling are excellent in the small side streets as well as on Friedrichstraße and the magnificent boulevard Unter den Linden. The main railway station can also be reached quickly and easily. From here you can reach all regional and national destinations and BER airport in a short time.
